WW: More Beach Adventures

First of all thank you so much to all who link up here at Project Alicia. Whether you are a newbie or a regular, I absolutely LOVE looking through your photos. I can't think of a better place to find inspiration!

Your photos move me and make me want to do better. Whether you use a point and shoot, a smart phone, or a DSLR... all are invited to participate in Wordless Wednesday or in any of my photo challenges.

If you missed it, yesterday I was busy Unveiling the Poetic Winter Photography Challenge.

Photobucket

I'm teaming up with Rebecca of Bumbles & Light, Faith of Sweet Violet and Kristi of Live and Love Out Loud to bring you this inspiring 4-week photo challenge, Feb 3rd-24th.

You can find details and the complete list of prompts on my Poetic Winter Challenge Page.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Now on to the regularly scheduled WW post...

After projects, sickness, and lots of life... we jumped in the car and headed to Hunting Island State Park yesterday.

Photobucket

I climbed the 167 stairs to the top and back. Cause I'm on a mission to overcome my fears.

Photobucket

The views were breathtaking and definitely made it worth it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The beach housed a graveyard of sorts and was the coolest location ever to explore and find treasures.

Photobucket

(I came home with piles of driftwood and have been researching cool DIY driftwood projects in case you follow me on pinterest and thought I'd lost my mind.)

Photobucket

Upon arriving at the park it felt as if we were entering a jungle. The landscape was wild and amazing with the spanish moss, palm trees, and prickly pears. Pics do not begin to do it justice.

Photobucket

Oh, and guess what I found on the way at a little place called Carolina Cider Company?

Photobucket

Photobucket

Pie! Homemade, fresh apple pie to be exact. A perfect compliment to my beach experience. (We recently found out the only pie store within a 45 mile radius of us is a little shop downtown Columbia that charges $45 per pie! So, this was a welcome treat.)

Photobucket

I absolutely love that there are endless beaches 2-3 hours away. Can't wait to explore the next one.

How did you spend the weekend?

Thanks again for stopping by. If you want to participate in Wordless, Not So Wordless or Wordful Wednesday, just grab a photo and link your post below. And feel free to stop by some of my favs...

  1. I can't wait for the next photo challenge. I, as you may remember, live where winter isn't here so I'm already trying to think of what to do for these themes.

I LOVE your photos! I have a thing for lighthouses and have always wanted to go on a photo tour of a bunch of them. One of my favorites, and I've actually been to it, is the one on St Simon's Island, GA. If you ever get a change...go!

  5. I don't know what it is about the pictures this particular week... perhaps it is just because I am especially emotional today... but the ones of the beach actually brought tears to my eyes. I just love the peacefulness of them. Even in winter the beach feels peaceful to me. I needed that today- thanks :)

You really do have a gift- I so appreciate you sharing it with us :)

ok, enough sappiness from me! Have a great week!

The beach is gorgeous, looks cold, We have had beatuiful clear weather but an icy chill wind which kept me home trying to stay warm all weekend.

  17. Arrrgh I love your beautiful photos!! But right now I'm not sure what I love more - your photos, or the look of that pie?!! Wow! I kind of have to keep scrolling back up to it just to have another look... There's some serious pie worship going on right here! And stomach rumbling... There's an apple pie in the freezer, but it's a supermarket bought Big Ben and there's just no way it's gonna measure up to the pie of yours that I swear I can taste inside my head. :/ ($45 for a pie at the other place? That's C R A Z Y!)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. lol. After moving here we were feeling a little deprived when we learned (on hub's b-day) that there were NO pie shops except for that crazy one that charges $45/pie! (Which we did have 2 slices of peanut butter at for about $16.) So stoked to find a pie shop (with reasonable prices) even if it isn't that close. I'll take it!

  40. I LOVE the beach in winter...
    so bleak, so wild...

of course its summer here, so our beach is more "sunshine" and "swimming"
I love the beach in all seasons, as long as is not a crowded tourist mecca...

give me an empty beach every time.
Just me, the sea and the sky.
    LOVE your images.

Especially love that twisted dragonish driftwood and that Shell.
