WW: It's that time of year again...

Yep, another boring mom post here. The traditional back to school pics... because today just so happens to be the first day of school here in Irmo, South Carolina's District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties. Emotions are running high.
Photobucket I was afraid with the 6:15 AM bus and anti-camera tweens combo I wouldn't be able to accomplish pics this year, so I did what any other mom would have done... I fudged it! Yes, I printed these signs and made my children grab their backpacks for a few staged pics a whole day early. Oh, the horror.
PhotobucketPhotobucket Photobucket The photographer in me had visions of something more like last year's back to school shoot with the period actor in a rustic schoolhouse setting with fun vintage props, but the mom in me was willing to settle with whatever my kids would do...

Photobucket Backyard snaps it was. Nothing spectacular. Crappy midday light. A weathered fence as a backdrop. Wrinkled clothes. And less than enthusiastic subjects. Beggars can't be choosers. But I feel like I was victorious even with these subpar pics... Photobucket Another first day of school bites the dust. And I have it documented. [Insert happy sigh here.]

For those who are new here, this is Wordless Wednesday, a place to share a photo and connect with an entire community of others. Being me, I couldn't keep it wordless, so Wordful or Not So Wordless posts are always welcome here at Project Alicia. You can grab my button in my sidebar if you'd like, but it's not required to participate.

Just grab a photo and link up below! And if you'd like to connect with other WW participants, click HERE or one of the thumbnails below. (These are just a few of my favs.)

  8. Nice photos - although I think you are in a time warp on that last slide (it is 2012 not Twenty Eleven.)

    Happy WW!

  24. They look like they're still in Cali! :> You did far better than I. We were crunched for time & squeaked in just a couple shots from my phone. I wasn't delighted, but also wasn't going to be late on the first day! (Which makes you a smart woman for doing it the day before!) :>

  25. Cheating or not, these are still great! I might just cheat this year too. It is always so crazy in the mornings. Taking pics the day before isn't a bad idea!

  32. Great back to school shots, even if they are reluctant ones. We gave up on back to school pictures years ago due to the complete lack of cooperation of DD. Her stance, "Mom it's the same uniform as last year, you don't need another picture of me in it." She started 8th grade this year. They sure grow up fast.

  33. We still have a few weeks left to go before this happens here. School goes back on the 4th September.

  36. That is a GENIUS idea! I'm tucking that away for next year, especially after the hurry and flurry of this morning's first day - I didn't get the pictures I had envisioned getting. :)

  37. Love these Alicia. My son is starting PreK in a few weeks, I'll have to see if I can convince him to do something like this too :)

  38. Your choice of coloring in these photos takes me back to an earlier time -- and your daughter's wearing the same denim cutoffs I was wearing in middle school. Lovely photos!

  39. Awesome pictures! I love the guitar pictures as well. Their faces are priceless! We're back in school today. I'm nowhere near the photographer you are (basically I suck!). It's one of the things I'd like to learn now that my kids will be back in school. Thanks for the linky!
