Tasty Tuesdays Bloghop: Angel Food Cake with Fluffy White Frosting

Welcome to Tasty Tuesdays. A place to share favorite family recipes.

No fancy homemade cakes here. Nope.

Even better. Betty Crocker is my hero. This is my favorite food. Hands down. (Well, maybe on par with candy cane kisses.) I have had this cake and this frosting every single birthday for as long as I can remember. Except for that one year that hubs royally screwed up and made the devil's food cake. I'm not sure he'll ever live that one down.

Here's a few pics that I could find at a moment's notice, just to prove my point. I have many others from pre-digital days hidden away somewhere.

Everyone in my family loves it too and I have only found the frosting in IA, so I'm always mailing cases of it to AZ and KY and wherever it is needed.

While in WA not one, but both kiddos requested the angel food cake with fluffy white frosting for their birthday party. And although I didn't scour the state to locate it, it seemed pretty obvious they didn't have it and due to time restraints we surrendered early and grams got the next best thing- an ice cream cake for Little Man and a lemon meringue pie for Pokey.

But there is nothing on this earth quite as good as Angel Food Cake with Fluffy White Frosting. So, I have a request. A favor really.

Could you please check your local grocery and tell me if you can find the Betty Crocker Fluffy White Frosting? I need to know where it can be purchased should I happen to be out of state again on b-days as to avoid such catastrophic events.

And if you happen to find it, make sure to try it. You'll be glad you did. Angel Food Cake is just not the same without it. And it's fat free. Win win.

It looks like this.

Oh, and guess what we're havin tonight? Turns out grams promised the kids that I'd make this when I got home and... Well, do your kids EVER forget anything you tell them? Especially not something that involves scrumptious cake. Plus they have memories like an elephant. So, we get to have birthday cake AGAIN. Yah.

I'd love for you to play along. Grab the button to the right. Any recipe works, old or new. Tell us what you're cookin up. Link up below. (You can also grab the linky below to add to your blog post.)

If you'd like me to stop by leave a comment below. Thanks. Hope I'll see ya again soon...

  14. Love the pics and you look so happy with your cake in each of the them! I haven't seen the boxed frosting mix here but we do have a few of the Betty Crocker cake mixes and the tubs of buttercream frosting. I'll look out for the boxed frosting though, just in case you ever come to the UK :D

  18. Love seeing the progression of birthday photos!
We don't get that angel food cake here, But I've heard of it before; it's regarded as a classic American cake. Even the word "frosting" is unique to America in our part of the world... we call it "icing"... funny eh?
I've linked up my favourite easy roast pumpkin soup recipe, that even my fussy boy will eat.

  23. Your cakes look wonderful! I love angel food cake, and keep meaning to make one, but I'll have to do it from scratch as we can't get the mixes here in England. We do get a few Betty Crocker mixes and the pots of ready-made icing, but never Angel Food Cake or frosting mixes. Thanks for hosting Tasty Tuesdays!

  24. My supermarket (in NJ) has a Betty Crocker Whipped Fluffy vanilla frosting in a can, but not as a mix. I haven't searched extensively, but I don't recall seeing a frosting mix in the store.

  25. After eating a chocolate mallow bunny (left from Easter!!) tonight my daughter reminded her Dadda that marshmallows should be cut up so kids don't choke on them.

He told her that 9 months ago! LOL

And, um, are you ever coming out to Australia? Do you need me to check too?

    ReplyDelete
  26. That is my kind of recipe. Easy. Definitely going to check out that frosting.

  30. Thanks! I like this recipe because it is simple ingredients, it actually turns out (kinnd of a soft yogurt texture) and since it does not use cream, it feels healthier ; ). I'm betting you you could make the other ice cream recipes this way, too!

  31. It's fun to see how your hair changed throughout the years :) ha I live in TX and we definitely have that icing in the local HEBs, but I've never actually tried it! Angel food cake is delicious.. esp with starwberries!

  34. Happy birthday allibaby! you dont look a day over 20 ya stinker! ;) I love having a traditional family cake. In our's my mom used to make us dunkin hynes yellow cake with chocolate frosting and little sprinkles on top. The love really is the most important healthy ingredient! :) My recipe this week is for wild foraged rose hip syrup. We are starting a foraging and herbal remedy challenge in the near future for food and home remedies and thought I better get started! This syrup is high in vitamin C, delicious and has pain relieving properties! Thanks for sharing your space with us this week! Alex@amoderatelife

  36. I want cake. I need cake. I've gotta have cake!
There are so many tasty looking link ups this week. I wish I could participate, but alas I'm living in a hotel for the next 30-60 days and the only thing I can cook are ramen noodles. In the microwave. I know...you're jealous. lol
I'll be sure to look out for the fluffy white frosting next time I'm at the grocery. But you've gotta drive on down to Missouri if they have it! lol Have a great day girl.
